Hey all,

Don't know if anyone can help me with a laptop....but here it goes.

Ive got a dell c600, pentium III 850mhz. The fan NEVER goes on. It gets quite warm! I have not seen the fan come on ever. I bought it used, and I am starting to worry. Any suggestions?

i've got a PIII 700... the fan rarely turn on... i wouldn't worry about it too much... warm is ok, if you were going to toast you proc you'd have done it by now

Check the bios and see if there is a setting to keep the fan on all the time. Some of my lappys have that option in the bios.

I have that same laptop. The fan turns on only when the processor has been at full load for a long time. But it still works so I presume it's not overheating. 😛 I think you are fine and shouldn't worry. 🙂

Ditto on this. Also, might actually see if you can open it up (without breaking anything, and see if you have some dust lying around in there (yes, laptops suffer from dust bunnies, too). If you do, spray it out.
