Laptop for grad school

Heya,

I'm in graduate school and am looking at a new laptop. I've got an old Dell Latitude D630...It's slow, bulky and heavy, and the battery life is awful.

Basically I just need something that can do general purpose stuff, is relatively light, and has good battery life. Preferably below $700.

So far all I've really found is the Lenovo U430p.
