I tend to be away from home most weekends and I'm looking for a gaming laptop to bring along with me. Relatively cheap and 13" - 15" screen size. I've never owned a gaming laptop before.
I've narrowed it down to these two (keep in mind i am limited to canadian stores):
Gateway ID49C01H
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...1a78fd995aen02
$749 CDN
Intel Core i3 350M 2.26ghz / 4GB / 640GB 5400rpm / Geforce GT 330M 1GB graphics / 14"
---------
MSI FX600
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...-200-_-Product
$869 CDN (can probably price match this down to $820ish on another site)
Intel Core i5 450M 2.4ghz / 4GB / 500GB 7200rpm / Geforce GT 325M 1GB graphics / 15.6"
Finding info on either one is hard. The Gateway model appears to be a canadian only thing (in that configuration anyway). The MSI FX600 appears to be brand new and only out on the market for a matter of weeks - hardly any info out there. I found this one review for the gateway which is pretty positive but none on the MSI yet.
The Gateway has the superior GPU but the MSI has the superior CPU. The 330M and 325M appear to have the same amount of cuda cores but the 330M is at a higher clockspeed. Both screens are 1366x768.
Games will be Starcraft 2, WoW, Dragon Age, and other stuff on my Steam library...though I don't expect this to be running Crysis. Battery life is not a factor as I only plan on using it plugged in most of the time.
I am almost at the point of flipping a coin so thought I'd ask for opinions here. thanks
