Laptop display types

I'm looking to get a Laptop, I understand the basics of the standard display types, but my question is do they have the issues still where when you scale the resolution down it looks a bit blurry or jagged? I want a nice display but 1600x1200 seems overkill for me! I wanna run 1024x768 as long as it looks good...


Also for vendor specific modes, like Dell's UltraSharp & Toshiba ASV Theater (something else) is there any benefit? I remember back when "MMX" was gonna be the killer thing to have hehehe.

and aside from higher resolutions, do the different standards offer that big of a difference in viewing angles and such?

I'm looking at a Toshiba 1955-S803 and a Dell 8200. the Toshiba has great specs for the price, I especially like the design, and the touchpad with the lcd screen under it. And the removable wireless keyboard + Nvidia Geforce4 go460 *drool*
Anyone messed with the new Toshiba's yet?

also on the Toshiba are the USB 2.0? I know a lot of the newer lap tops have it standard, Toshiba's web site doesn't say either way. And last, they don't say if this model has a 2nd battery slot, I know the battery life will be pretty horrible, especially with the 16" SuperUberTheaterUltraMaxXGA+++ display.

Yes, LCD screens will always look best at their native resolution. If the native res seems to be overkill, you can change the sizes of the fonts and other features to take up more of the screen area.
