Laptop disk question

Is it possible to install a hard disk in place of the dvd? Are there any cases that fit into the dvd bay? I was thinking of buying a floppy drive, shave some plastics off, and place it where the dvd lies. The hard disk on my laptop is on top of the floppy drive. But looks bigger than the dvd by about 5mm.

Is there any other way to install a second disk? I know an option is to replace the original one with a bigger one.

They have long existed in Lenovo/IBM Thinkpads. They are called Ultrabay Adapters.
