laptop CPU question

What is the difference between a Centrino and a regular P4 for laptops? Im looking into buying a laptop and would like to know what the difference is aside from clock speed. How fast is a 1.5 Centrino compared to a regular P4? Thanks in advance

Centrino is NOT a CPU name but a term for a concept. Usually Centrino laptops have a Pentium-M (Mobile) CPU which uses way less energy than a normal P4 and is clocked lower, but has very good performance per clock, way better than a P4. Most striking thing though is the energy consumption. My P4 2.8 laptop runs about 2,5 hours on battery with 100% load. My friend's Centrino though runs for about 5,5 hours on 100% load!

I've heard that a 1.5ghz Pentium-M is comparable in speed to a 2.4-2.6ghz P4C (some people say 2.4, others say 2.6).
