Laptop CPU/GPU

Hi, im looking into getting laptop that is going to be used primarily used for playing WoW. I'm not looking for a fancy gaming machine just something that will be ok for medium graphic settings.

I recently setup a desktop with a ryzen 3 2200g with integrated graphics and was pleasantly surprised with how well that handled some gaming so that is probably about the amount of horsepower I'm looking for. I am just not familiar enough with laptop parts to have any idea for what would be the equivalent of that for laptop model designations.

Has Vega 3 for Graphics... not much is known about what kinda games can be played

But for 400 bucks, doesn't seem bad. I think Office Max offers a 3 or 5 day return policy. Buy it, set up wow, and see how well it plays.

My take is, this probably isn't very Earth Shattering over a HD intel setup. I would think a Vega 10 would be able to play wow on a Ryzen 7. I'm actually looking for a CHEAP disposable Laptop, and this might fit the bill. If I liked it, I would look at seeing if there was a way to add an SSD.

A bit off topic... Latest from AMD, maybe it will make it's way into a very CHEAP laptop! quad-core Ryzen processor paired with 24 Vega Compute Units and 8GB of GDDR5 memory on a single chip... Personally, if we can get 24CU's in a laptop for cheap, that would be great! Especially with low power and low heat properties.

Those are some seriously ugly graphics in that test of the 2200U. Even a desktop apu with a much higher power allowance is barely able to match a GTX 1030. It will be worse in a low power laptop.
For around 700.00 one can get a quad intel processor and a gtx 1050. link . That one is only one remaining on sale and is 750.00, but you also get an SSD. There are several other models in the 700 dollar range with a GTX 1050 as well. Just stay away with the ones with the U processor, since it is a low power cpu.

I bought a used Dell Studio XPS 15Z from the FS/FT forum here a while ago.
It has a dedicated GPU with 2GB of memory. (nVidia GeForce GT 525M)

It's not comparable to a desktop GPU, but, it handles 720P gaming quite well. (1080p is a slideshow)

The "vega 3" in the 2200U is supposed to be around 100% better than this old discrete GPU. It should allow for good 720p performance. I'm not sure about 1080p.

That said, we have several desktops with cards ranging from a Geforce 960, to a Radeon 470, to a Radeon 290. The 290 is a bit older, but handle 5760*1080 without any trouble, and the 470 & 960 both handle just about everything at 1080p quite decently.

A desktop will obviously give you more "bang for the buck", however, laptops have improved much.
