I have a guy im talking to whos laptop gets pretty hot, I want to have him get a cooling pad thing but not sure how to steer him, do they really make a diff, and if so what should he look for/not look for. and personal exp. or suggestions would be great its for a HP laptop not sure about anything else. and not worried about money at this point in time. just whats good/bad or other,

Thanks guys!

Try low tech first. Prop up the laptop on a book to make a space underneath. Some of the cooling pads have such weak fans, they don't cool better than the prop up on a book trick.
