Laptop Cooler for Dell XPS15

I have a new laptop and I'm looking for a cooler to help prolong its life with me. Prices and designs are all over the place. My needs are easy. Not a gamer and no heavy apps or use. Primarily school and office work, emails, and surfing the 'net.
I was even thinking I could get away with a passive type cooler, something like the http://www.xpad4laptop.com/index.html

If you just want one to sit on a desk, pretty much any model you find will do the job.

I've seen that one around. Interesting, what with the speakers and all. How good or bad is the sound? Can the speakers be shut off?
I suspect the laptop will see significant time off the desk and on my lap and so comfort is definitely a factor in my decision.
