Laptop Cdrw question

I have an Inspiron 8100 and would like to buy a cdrw for it. I don't have any removeable media bays so I would have to buy an external one. I would like something small. I have a firewire and usb port. I'd like a cdrw that does around 8x. Throw some ideas and prices at me. I'm completely lost on this topic.
 
Isn't the 8100 a 3 spindle unit? That would mean you could drop the legacy floppy drive and pick up one of dell's modular DVD/CD-RW/CD-R units and have onboard disk duping capabilities without lugging around another package....just a thought.
