Laptop boot issues

When I turn my ASUS laptop on, 1 of 3 things happen

1: No display or boot sounds
2: 'ASUS' boot screen comes up, then no display
3: Proper login

After a few resets, and pushing the reset underneath, eventually I can login. Sometimes it works fine for days then it will have a fit and not boot properly for 1/2 hour.

Any thoughts?
 
I assume you have the problems while using the AC pack as well as with just the battery? Try removing the battery, using just the AC pack.

Could be RAM. If there are two sticks, you could try each stick individually.

The motherboard is another possibility. Is the warranty current?
