Laptop battery

I've heard both sides of the story. Which is the best to do - take the battery out when plugged into the AC adapter or leave it in? (Granted the battery is at 100% charge)

Shutdown, Remove without A/C power plugged in. Plug in power, power up the laptop

What are you getting at? If you want it out, leaving it in is bad, if you want it in, taking it out is bad. What is it you intend to accomplish?

I thought it was self explanitory that I was referring to which was the better idea for preserving the life and performance of the battery.
