Hey folks,
A friend was having some problems with his Gateway Solo 2500 series laptop so he asked me to redo the system for him since some of the Windows files were corrupted and his system wouldnt boot.
I plugged in the AC adapter and charged the battery fully before proceeding to work on it. Left the AC adapter plugged in all the while and successfully formatted and installed Windows 98.
That was as far as I got...
Once the laptop is booted now, even whilst the AC Adapter is plugged in, I get like about 5-10 mins max until the unit switches itself off due to the battery running out of juice.
It'll charge back up to 5/5 bars and then once switched on again... same thing, within 5-10 mins it's dead again.... In windows the icon for the charger shows that the battery is charging but it deteriorates quite quickly.
Is it definitely a bad battery or could my charger be damaged? It's a little confusing since things went so well for the installation which lasted about 30-45mins without problems.
All ideas are welcome!
