Laptop advice

Well, it'd be helpful if we knew what he planned to use it for in school. Specifically what type of courses will he be taking? For general purpose use and light gaming that laptop will be fine but if say he gets into something like CAD or a few other specialized areas we might have different recommendations. Also a budget would be nice.
 
Also, what level of school and where. Sometimes the best deal is the college bookstore. That often takes care of setup for the college network, and is an easy return for possible warranty problems.
