I'm considering buying a t43 for college but I'm not sure if it will be a good investment with all the newer tech coming out. I hear longhorn will be coming out as well as dual core p M (yonah). Will it be worth waiting till mid-august?

I wouldn't buy a T43 right now. They just aren't worth the money if you're interested in future tech. It is a mild upgrade over a T42 with cooling problems and a bigger price tag. Get a great deal on a T42 or wait to see what Yonah laptops come out (early 2006).

Well I have to get it before school starts (I need a computer to take to college). I can get a good fully loaded T43 for $1800-2200 with educational discounts (about the same for a t42) and I guess in two years I will upgrade. I just wasn't sure if any other big tech upgrades were coming to the laptop industry before August. Thanks for the information.

What are your specs? You can find a 14"/15" T42 1.7 40GB CDRW/DVD 9600 for <$1500. That is an awesome machine for the money.
