How do you lap something.. what sort of materials do you need... I know the *basic* principle but i dont know methodology, if all you need is a dremel, sandpaper or whatever. Please Explain! Thanks! 🙂

Abit NF7-S V.2

------------------------------------------------------
AMD Athlon XP T-Bred B DLT3C 1700+ @ 2.3GHZ (1.775v) 400FSB = 3200+
Abit NF7-S V.2 (nForce2-U400)
Corsair TwinX XMS 3200LL 512MB @ 2-3-2-6 (2.6v)
Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB
Antec TrueBlue 480W
Thermalright SLK-947U with 92mm Vantec Tornado @2800RPM
Antec PlusView 1000AMG
Cambridge SoundWorks MegaWorks THX 550 5.1

Both boards are pretty much equal from an overclockers point of view except that the NF7-S can use multipliers above 12.5

In reading a guide.. what is the point of the sheet of glass.. why not just hold the heatsink, and rub the sandpaper on it.. why this elaborate wet glass setup?

Because glass is perfectly flat, and that's how flat you want your CPU core to be.

Honestly dude, don't do it man. It ain't worth it. Lap your heatsink if you must, but seriously, it's not worth taking sandpaper to your precious and fragile CPU core. You might gain 1C in your temps. It's not worth it at all IMO.
