Lapping a Tbird/Duron?

I've never been able to get my hands on one of the newer AMD chips, so I wanna know if it's possible or even needed to lap the core of an AMD .18u chip like their Intel counterparts 🙂. Cause I had to lap my Coppermine, the blue-shtuff layer was severely warped, and made .5mm gaps between the heatsink (bad!). Anyone have any info?

lol, i wouldnt even attempt to lap a duron/tbird...amd put a tiny amount of sealant on em, so even when you put a heatsink on the chip, the core gets scrathed up and you could possibly kill the chip...

hmm =\ I lapped my 700E just fine, got rid of all the gaps 🙂 So AMD uses less "sealant" stuff on their cores than Intel? I hope my next upgrade (AMD chip) won't have a warped core like this 700E did then..
