The other day, I went into the Danbury mall early in the morning to get breakfast at McDonalds. I had time to kill before my wife was done with a test she had to take. Anyways, the girl that was "helping" me at the counter couldnt speak English at all. She kept calling her manager over to her in Spanish to help her out. Honestly, it really pissed me off. How do you feel about people speaking another language other than English all the time, just out and about? Like if you're in Walmart or whatever and there's a family doing some shopping there, and they're all speaking Spanish or Chinese to each other... Just curious if it bugs anyone.

edit: Oh and before anyone calls me one, I'm not racist.

I couldn't imagine working in another country and not speaking the local language at all.
English is pretty easy to learn, anyway.

You sure about that? As I understand it, it's quite tough for people that dont use it as their first language.

It's not nearly as annoying as this pretentious YAMT crap.

I occasionally find it frustrating when interacting with someone without a firm grasp of English, when our ability to communicate is fundamental to achieving my goal. Otherwise, I wouldn't even notice.

The problem is with the restaurant's management. Unless the local population in your town is largely Hispanic, the manager shouldn't put a non-English speaking person at the cash register. There are plenty of other positions in a fast food place that don't require a mastery of English.

Doesn't bother me. I have a friend who speaks Chinese and he and his family speak it around me all the time. It's actually kind of fun, to try and guess what they are saying. 🙂

BTW, you racist.

😉

BTW what's YAMT mean?
