Landscapers opening windows and peering into my house

My mom hired some landscapers to cut down a tree near the house. We have a small 1ft x 2ft window at the side of our house. Its one of thoose older windows that opens outwards and not vertically, its really old and doesnt close properly. So when we repainted the house we just painted over the seal to keep it closed. Yesterday my mom saw one of them walk over to the window and start budging it, and openend it all the way. Usually she is kinda paranoid, but we've had a few break-ins in our neighborhood just last year, a matter a fact the most recent break-in was our next door neighbor. Should I just replace the window and forget about it?

I think it's funny when people refer to casement windows as "old" style windows :D

Confront them about it, and also take measures to prevent break-ins from happening easily at the house.

Exactly.

They had no legit reason to be opening your windows? If not then they were up to something shady.

About a year ago I had a day off and slept in late. It happened to be a Monday and the grass cutting crew came to do our lawn. So I get out of the shower and walk into the bedroom ass naked and find some mexican with that leaf blower thing strapped to his back peering into my window. I guess he kinda froze when he saw me in the buff, so to freak him out even more I took Mr. Happy and twirled him around some. The look on his face was priceless for the few seconds that he realised what I was doing - then he kinda backed away slowly and then ran away yelling something to his friend.

Well, locks are for honest people... If they want in, they can always get in.

Definitely confront their boss about it. They are there for trees, not opening your windows. Basically, you could press charges for breaking and entering...even if they did not enter, they broke the seal on the window.
