After working at company A for a month, company B called and made a better offer.

The new job is closer to home, better benefits, better pay and more time off.

When I get my able bodied seaman credential I get a $10,000 a year raise. Then I can move into a Mate training program where I learn how to drive a tugboat.

So far things are going well. The new job offers some great upward mobility that my IT job did not offer.

Tugboat, mate, seaman. I'm still not exactly sure this thread is about driving a boat at all.

Thank you.

When I start my regular rotation this week I should have a lot more time to post.

do you still get paid for the week you're off?

No.

After I get my able bodied seaman I will be making close to $50k a year and only working 6 months a year.

How much able bodied seamen do you need? I can send you some if you want.

I put an application in with company B back in July. They called from that application.

I'm just curious.

1) Is it difficult to get a tugboat job?

2) What credentials do you need?

That's awesome man. Congrats.
