Because it represents (hopefully) a sea change in the culture of one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

Doesn't really tell me why it requires another post. If a thread was made discussing the current issues surrounding doping in sports, that'd be one thing. This thread is pretty much is set up to discuss the exact same issues as the first one.

It's just another nef thread bro. It's been reported, mods have ignored it (after all, Perk has posted a while ago and it STILL hasn't been locked). Just roll with it.

Oooh! Sorry we didn't get to it fast enough for you. Next time we'll drop everything just to make sure YOUR complaints, which are SOOOOO much more important than anything else, get taken care of first.

It wasn't a witch hunt, Lance tried to destroy anyone who stepped forward. I think this part of the story makes lance look even worse than his cheating:

http://www.reddit.com/r/sports/comments/119ck3/lance_armstrong_was_at_center_of_most/c6kuqnf

Again, all of those just show that he's "a witch".

I'll still say that this was a witch hunt, a successful one.

(I will however admit that there are multiple definitions of the term 'witch hunt', and it's very possible that you believe in one while I believe in a different one)

He acted like a witch, a despicable witch. He could have just publicly denied the allegations. He went one step further and tried to destroy people. That's was the 'aha' moment for me when i strongly suspected that he was hiding something. Innocent people don't do those types of things.

I completely agree.

And how did they finally expose him? With a witch hunt! :D

"Witch hunt" is a colloquial phrase that has as it's bedrock denotation "unfairness" of prosecution. There was nothing unfair about the long, deliberate building of a bulletproof case against this lying, scheming, cheating, arrogant, duplicitous doper.

Definition of WITCH HUNT

1
: a searching out for persecution of persons accused of witchcraft
2
: the searching out and deliberate harassment of those (as political opponents) with unpopular views

Lance Armstrong wasn't an innocent guy with a merely unpopular view. He was a liar and a cheat and the mastermind of a criminal enterprise which profited financially in the extreme from its machinations.

^^^ This. I guess it's really hard for those for whom Lance was, understandably, a hero and even a role model to let go of all that, but the evidence is absolutely overwhelming that not only did he dope up and continually lie about it, he was also the ringleader and "take yer dope" enforcer of a very well organized cheater's cabal.

Now if only we'd been able to formally nail the obvious, big-headed cheater Roger Clemens, too.

The arrogance of both of these jamokes has been beyond the pail. Eff 'em both. :colbert:

Roger will pay a price eventually, virtually a lock to be a HOF player he will never, ever get in now. When he's an old man his dreams will haunt him as he see's other players of his generation in the HOF and he is not..

That's not a witch hunt at all, in fact, the only witch hunt was perpetrated by Lance Armstrong trying to destroy others.
