the only 2 hdds i will be using in this machine, the ssd for boot and a few games, the 640gb for a little content. i dont keep much on my game machine. i decided to mount the ssd sideways (much like last night when i decided to, well never mind all that) because i didnt want it screwed to the floor of the case, oriented (i wont say mount again) front to back. and of course, theres the motherboard tray.

here they are mou- um i mean suspended in the case. the rubber cables makes them very bouncy. no, i am not going to say much like my.....

here is the motherboard screwed down to the tray and my old and dirty true black. what the picture does not show was me having to remove my old and dirty true black because it would not fit when i tried to slide the mb and tray back into the case, the case being too narrow. so if you have tall hs/f, dont put them on outside the case. also, and this is a big one, my true black almost touches the roof (top?) of the case, and does touch it when i use the plastic fan mounting (!!!) thingie. so look for a hs that is not as wide as a true, and/or use the other fan mounting system, ie the wire doohickys.

so i "put in" my opticals sideways also. no rocket surgery, just remove the 2 rails and screw them on in the desired direction. put the tpn 750 in the front so you could admire my excellent sleeving job on some of the cables, until i ran out of mdpc-x sleeving. more on the way.

another view. theres the usb3 pass-thru cable front the front panel to the mb usb3 connector.

tennisball head stands in awe of the majesty that is the antec lanboy air. he also notices that if we ran the usb3 cable across the top and out the little oval hole above the back fan, it would be much less messy. hey, thanks tb!!

psu in, some wiring completed cable management is well, ok. so far.

here is the hot mess the back of the case is starting to be. some loops and things to attach cable ties to. also a pretty big problem for cable management that i will document next time - cables cannot cross the vertical spar between the drives and the mb. the side panels have to be screwed down flush to the spar, so cables can only cross from 1 side to the other on the front side of it.

doesnt look too bad on this side.

ok, thats it for now. i stoked it up, and it booted right up. its kind of bright, with 5 led fans. its not particulary loud. my i7 950 is a little cooler than in my cm sniper. i will post more pics tomorrow or friday. things to do -

waiting for some noiseblocker fans i ordered (black frames with blue blades, for the 2x on top, back exhaust and fan on the hs.
waiting for some more mdpc-x black and royal blue sleeving to finish up.
put in a 9600gt i have laying around for physx
clean up cable management.

finally finished this thing.

mdpc-x sleeving, black and royal blue.
3x xigmatek fans, black frames, blue blades'
4x 10" sata2 data cables, sleeved
all screws swapped out for black screws
cable clamp 1" clamps, black
every wire and cable in the case is sleeved, except the power supply cable to the sata drives, which i will be doing as sooon as the pass thru connectors arrive

i7 950 @ 4500 ish
evga sli3
corsair h70 - 1x corsair fan, 1x xigmatek fan (both 60cfm) push-pull into case push fan on outside of case
3x 2gb patriot viper 1600
gtx 470
9600gt for physx
60gb mushkin callisto deluxe ssd boot win7
wd 640gb sata 6.0 64mb cache
lg dvdr/rw
lg dvdr/rw/bd/hd-dvd
antec tpn 750 true power new

i kept the front clean - i like the way it looks

dust on the inside hasnt been too bad, at least so far. when i first got this sample, i wasnt really impressed. but as i went thru this build, it really grew on me. that little piece above the 2 side fans was taken off the back panel (got in the way of the h70 rad) but it fit perfectly in that gap. it has spots for 2x antec 2 speed fan controolers, so i put the side fan controllers in it, rather than just have them hang in space.

IMG_1121

left side front panel open. oriented the opticals this way to keep front clean. dont use them much anyway. the way the hard drives mount is the best i have seen - 2 thick bungies with hooks on each end, and plastic bits in the middle to screw to the drives. can easily mount them all 4 directions.

IMG_1122

i sleeved black, with a little blue to match the case. after all that sleeving, i wasnt about to hide all the cables.

IMG_1125

close up of the h70, which is a spectacular piece of equipment. if i told you how much better this is than my old true black, you would say i was bullshitting. i put 1 of the xig blue and black fans on the pull side of the rad, because it looks more better.

IMG_1128

back panel. so what.

IMG_1129

top panel, front to back. you can see how easily the black plastic top panel attracts dust and cat fur. 2x xig fans mounted on top as exhaust to counter the back fan acting as intake.

IMG_1132

side view, top panel.

IMG_1138

side view, stoked up. pretty damn quiet when you consider 8x 120mm fans, a pump and the vid card fans. much quieter than my old cm sniper with 3x 200mm fans and 2x 120mm.

IMG_1148

all in all, i am very pleased with the build. its quiet, very cool (much cooler than my last few cases, and the 6 intake fans really blow the dust right out the spaces and mesh.

From now on it should be mandatory for AT's users to showcase their cute animals in any hardware product review (emphasis on likeable animals - no snakes!).

I can see the hamster (ginnea pig or squirrel for those running higher performance) on a wheel inside the case pics popping up in threads. LOL

not really complete without another cat pic.

BTW. i think your top 2 fans are set as intake. they appear to be blowing down into the case.

As much as I WASN'T impressed with the looks of the case when I first saw it, I do have to say that the blue version looks nice.

Too bad I can't justify owning another computer case. 🙁

OP, what PSU are you using?

Here you go

Looks really good! I'm liking it. How are temps on everything ?

temps are much better than on my previous case, a cm sniper. also even tho it has 8 fans, a pump, psu fan and video card fans, it is quieter than the sniper which had 3x 200mm fans 2x 120mm and vid card fans.

Do you think it would make a good watercooling case

i really dont know what you would need for a good watercooling case. but there are mounting points on top for a 240mm rad, and you could prob fit 2 more in the drive bays (one on each side near the small doors) . and its not really a big deal if you exhaust hot air into the case.

Say welcome to my lanboy
