LAN to WAN

Hello all, I have an ASUS RT-AC66U router with Advanced Tomato firmware on it. Now before that I had stock and my WAN port is currently not working so I’m stock firmware I went into WAN settings and selected LAN Ethernet port 1 as a WAN because like I mentioned my WAN port is not working. So it worked after I did that I believe it was under dual WAN. Now since I flashed Advanced Tomato that setting obviously doesn’t stay. What I want to know and I know there’s a way and it can be done but I don’t know where to go and what settings to put LAN port as a WAN. Any help would be appreciated.

It’s WAN to LAN, not LAN to WAN. Sorry

I remember seeing multiWAN for regular Tomato. Not sure if when Advanced Tomato puts their pretty GUI if it's just missing from the settings menu. I'd try using regular Tomato to see if it works or is supported in the 1st place. By the way another alterative would be Asus Merlin.

It has the option for MultiWan but I quite don’t get it. Is Asus Merlin better or has better GUI? Is it VPN friendly?

Though I do love Advanced Tomato's interface, I prefer Merlin for ASUS routers. It's GUI is identical is to ASUS since it's based on the latest updated open source version of the ASUS firmware and it's developer Merlin is very active on the smallnetbuilder forum.

What issues are you having with VPN?

The thing is when I was stock I was able to use one of the LAN ports as WAN because my WAN is not working for some reason. And if I can’t get WAN to work I can’t set up the VPN. Feel me? So I’m trying to use one of my LAN ports on Advanced Tomato as a WAN like I had on stock so I can use my VPN by connecting it of course to my modem
