You would be even better off just buying a DSL/Cable router (even if you do not have broadband) that can act as a hub, firewall and DHCP sever for you, and they only cost $50.

Not even $50. I have been buying netgear 802.11b routers for my customers @$10 AR every few weeks for a few months now.
