I've finished my budget Lan Party Machine, using mostly parts laying around my apartment seeing little or no use, and now I present it to the world :p. Here are some pictures of the newly completed rig. Today I added a Raeon 9800 Pro 128MB Card I picked up for $40 locally, turned out to be brand new, and the R360 Core, so naturally I've already OC'd it beyond XT speeds ;)

Some Specs of the system,
ASUS P4P800 SE Motherboard (Socket 478)
Intel Northwood P4 3.0c @ 3.45GHz w/ Zalman 7000AlCu Cooler
2GB (4x512) Infineon Value RAM
ATI made 9800 Pro @ 415Core/365MemDDR with Zalman Copper Cooler. (Haven't pushed it yet, will likely go a bit higher.)
2x Hitachi 82.4GB 7200RPM 2MB IDE HDD's, (No RAID setup)
2x LG 16X DVD-ROM drives
SB Audigy 1
Antec TruePower II 480W PS
And the obligatory Floppy Drive

The case I had lying around, I cleaned it up and added a few mod touches to it such as the handles/cable wraps on top, two tone black/white paint job, and custom exhaust fan on top of case.

Total ammount spent on this rig (THings I didn't have immediatly at home)
$14 - Top Handles from Lowes
$40 - R9800Pro
$30 - Antec TruePowerII PS
$8 - rounded floppy cable
$10 80mm Case fan
$5 - Decals off of eBay ;)
--------------------------------
~$107 USD total.. not too bad.

BTW In case your wondering, stuff like the PS and Vid card I bought at a silent auction locally.

Not bad at all. Nice OC on the northwood to. My old 3.06ghz northwood @3.45ghz was faster than my Prescott @3.82ghz for gaming. Killer deals you go there on the video card and PSU.

For intake, I just have one, an 80mm 25CFM fan located right above the CPU pretty much. The fan on top is exhaust, as well as the 120mm Fan in the PSU also reight above the CPU HSF. I lost the bracket to mount another 80mm fan on the front of the case for intake.. I suppose I could ghetto rig something up there. Why do you ask saltedeggman?

That is tight only for 100 dollar you must just have alot of spare stuff around the house. I still have to say my shuttle beats it but for only 100 that is a steal :) plus a 2nd computer for your friends that come over and what not.

I actually considered spending the money for a shuttle, but once I started modding that ratty old ATX case I knew it was the end for the shuttle idea ;) I do have friends that come over and game with me quite often, so it is a nice addition, they don't have to lug their rigs over here anymore unless theres several people over playing at once.

I like the attention you paid to good "cooling" and a quality Power Supply. Two details that simply dont get enough focus in new system builds.

any plans on trimming the power supply mount so that the 120mm fan is not as obstructed?

Good build for 100$!!

Tiamat..good catch on the power supply support plate. Ez to cut it back so only an inch or so is remaining to support the back edge of the power supply.
