Equipment : Alcatel SpeedTouch Pro Modem/Router
Linksys 4-port Hub and Linksys 10/100 NICs

I can swap files, do the internet thing on both computers but I can not
play TCP/IP games between the to of them? I am absolutely positive
I have set the games up correctly. (Not like its that difficult to do that)
but they just do not see each other when I try to play? Is this a firewall issue?
Port fowarding issue? I gots no clue here.

Anyone that can please gimme a hand...

It's most likely a port forwarding issue. Check to see which ports the game opens, then allow those ports through the router.

Yep.
If that doesn't work and you have an extra hub at your disposal, try using that instead of the router to see if the game will work. If it will, then it's a router issue.

oh one other thing. Is there a place that list what ports games use? For example I am
trying to run "Insane". Do they all basically use the same ports?

Thanks for the help

No, each game uses its own set of ports -- that's entirely up to the game's programmers. There may be some central listing of ports that popular games use, but I suggest seeing the ports for yourself.

What you do is fire up the game in server mode, make sure it's listening for incoming connections, then minimize it, open MS-DOS Command Prompt, and type "netstat -a". This will show you all ports which are open.

If you paste the entire output of that netstat command, I might be able to help you to figure out which ports are used by the game.

thanks for the link. "Insane" would allow me to bring up my DOS window while I have it running.
Screen just flickers for a second then goes back to the game when I ALT+TAB.
It shouldnt be this difficult. hehe
