Damn... if the Lakers lose in the first round... it will bring illegitamacy to the Kings' Championship.

how so?

if the lakers win the championship without playing the kings, you think they care?

a championship ring is a ring, no less

Yeah, but wouldn't it be much sweeter if the Kings knock off the Lakers in the WCF? It's the ultimate payback. At this rate, the Kings will just bulldoze through the Mavs, Spurs, and then the Sixers for the Championship... Sigh... so uneventful.

i understand where you are coming from, as i know many friends who also think that way

but still a champion is a champion :)

yea this changed this during the middle of the season, which is odd and unheard of.

7 series is better in some way that better team will win, instead of being flukes.

more money for the league too

I can't think of a more poorly officiated playoff game in my life. I've only been watching consistently the last 4 or 5 years, but that was easily the worst officiated game ever.

On the Twolves side, the ridiculous foul call on KG that sent him out of the game (Horry usually doesn't flop like that, I'm surprised). The missed layout by Pargo, who wasn't touched by a single Twolve yet got a miraculous foul call. The 4-point play (3-pointer plus a foul shot) by Kobe even though he was only grazed by a Twolve. There's several more Q4 and OT Twolves calls I'm forgetting.

On the Lakers side, the non-call on Kobe's Q4 drive where he was clearly fouled by KG, and another non-call on Kobe in OT when he was driving. Of course the call that sent Fisher out of the game was one of the worst; coming around a screen in Q4, Hudson clearly drew contact by himself as Fisher was trying to get out of the way. This was a huge call because Fisher made 6 3-pointers (out of 9 attempts) before he fouled out in Q4, and he could have been a big factor in OT.

In general the Twolves definitely got a couple more obviously false calls against them compared to the Lakers, but on the whole the officiating was equally terrible for both teams. I will never stop watching the NBA anytime soon, but games like these really make me wonder about what the refs are doing. I can't believe that they would be told to give the benefit of the doubt to the Lakers, but at this point I'd just really like to know why the officiating was so obviously inconsistent (not unfair to one team or the other, but inconsistent). Or maybe, since I've never officiated an NBA game, I don't know how hard it is to calls fouls on extraordinarily quick world-class players? I just don't know.

lakers fan here :)

few thing i'd like to point out:

1. poor officiating on both ends of the floor, but i think the lakers got a few more calls in their favor.
2. lakers missed their free throws all game long, especially in the Q4 when they count the most.
3. KG has really just stepped up his game and is just playing amazing basketball.
4. we need to send Rick Fox back to canada.
5. flops should be called technical fouls.
6. twolves tried to give the game to the lakers but the lakers just didn't want it

well, i would say more, but i only watched the fourth quarter. i was stuck in some horrendous traffic on the 405 and the radio in my uncle's car was broken :(

one last thing:

I HATE RICK FOX!!! :)

I agree with all your points except number 6: twolves DID NOT try to give the game to the lakers... instead the officials did

I agree, Rick Fox is totally worthless. I can't understand why Devean George does not start in place of Fox; he's faster, stronger, better defender, and has even shot the ball as well as Fox has recently (and Fox is known for his sweet shooting!).

Szczerbiak tried his darndest to single-handedly give away the game to the Lakers, but they wouldn't take it.

As I was watching the game, I got a sense that the refs kept trying to makeup for their mistakes... like there would be a bad call against the T-Wolves, then they would make another bad call against the Lakers shortly after to make up for the earlier mistake...

But then it quickly resulted in bad calls one after another and the game got out of hand...

Those refs need to get fired! I mean, something like this in the playoffs is just unacceptable... I lost a lot of confidence in the NBA tonight...

It was something along those lines, but it was a lot funnier watching KG in action saying all that.

Yeah I saw that and was laughing my ass off!

Craig Sager had a funny ass yellow suit on!

In this series one of two things are gonna happen.

Either Minnesota is for real.
or
This was a wake up call for the Lakers.

But it kinda makes you wonder with all the bad calls against the T'Wolves and their ONLY mvp on the bench.
Lakers had two mvps on the floor PLAYING and they STILL loss even with all the favorable calls they got.

Gotta say I'm rootin for the team with heart aka Minnesota.

I respect the hell outta teams that never give up. Similiar to what Iverson and the 76ers did last year.

Fvck LA <^> :) <^>

I can hardly call it equally.
I'd say the 3 most important bad calls all went against the Wolves.

1. The "4-point play." - basically brought the game to OT.
2. KG fouling out - taking out Wolve's main man.
3. The obvious non-contact "foul" by Szerbiak on the fast break where the guy just totally missed.

#3 included only because there was absolutely no contact at all whatsoever, and the fact that it was so obviously a wrong call, yet the refs still called it leads me to believe the game was somehow rigged.

If I were Szerbiak/Wolves, I'd definitely throw a huge fit there and bring it to the league's attention.

Evan, nice try to hide your Laker bias, but not good enough ;)

good. if minnesota pulls out this series i am a new t-wolves fan (until they play the sixers).

they beat a team of 8 (lakers plus 3 blind officials). those were the most ridiculous calls ever. these refs need to be reprimanded financially for such nonsense. after the west finals gm 6 last year and this ridiculous display, i am really starting to distrust the nba.

now to read the rest of the thread where hopefully i'll get to see a bunch of flakers fanboys crying when the refs tried to give their garbage team the game.

another thing, this game is going to do wonders for the t-wolves' momentum. winning in OT without Garnett and with all those nonsense calls...I'm calling for a blowout similar to game 2 in gave 4.

T-WOLVES in FIVE

FLAKERS GO HOME.

worst. game. ever. I'd rather see them lose by 30 (like game 2) than like last night. Last night was simply lack of heart.

kobe and shaq were mediocre, never getting their A games going. KG and Hudson were not.

i think wally might have killed himself had the lakers won.

If the lakers lose, Mitch Ketchup is going to have a huge job ahead of him... the lakers are too old and slow to keep up with the t-wolves.

If the lakers don't pull their heads out soon, they may as well do Nick's "Cancun" chant before the next game.

Eh? The Lakers need very little to absolutely dominate the league. It's just a matter of how much motivation they have to do so...

They will pick up a true power forward at the end of the season finally. And then a point guard to follow. The two most predicted by many right now are Keon Clark + Scottie Pippen.

Lakers line up then would be...

Kobe Bryant
Scottie Pippen
Devean George
Keon Clark
Shaq
