Laid off Kentucky miners block train, demand back pay

So now coal miners were "spreading opiates"?, it sounds like you feel a need to shit on these people because they voted poorly. Nope, neither Obama or Hillary or Trump can stop market forces and re-training might work for some, but if your 54 and done nothing but mine for 30+yrs what can you learn now?. Where will the jobs be even after a successful re-train?. Hopefully the entire state has learned an important lesson, no one in the GOP gives a rats ass about them (or anyone else not rich).

Capitalism views labor as a disposable commodity, like buffer pads. Wear it out, throw it away, get a new one. Only the wicked soshulists want to treat the discards as fellow humans worthy of respect & dignity.

The reason so many people in Appalachia draw SS disability is because that's the best we could do for 'em. Old, wore out, beat up & used up people the Jerb Creators left behind. It's a helluva lot easier to qualify under Dem admins than GOP, obviously.

Except that it all gets tied up for months or years, even for the people who get paid first. Liquidated workers need their pay ASAP & there's no cash in corporate coffers to pay them so it has to come from another source in the short run. It's the only way I can think of to bridge the gap. It's an issue of liquidity, not resources. The fund's claim would trump all others.

As long as the companies actually pay into the fund...and the fund is made whole first before other creditors...I'm fine with that idea....but, you know perfectly well...there will be companies who cheat, elected officials who look the other way...or just outright grant exemptions...and workers will continue to get fucked.

I get your feelings are hurt because you don't like people pointing out the truth that the situation these people are in, is due to them enabling the politicians that have aided in and profited from them getting fucked over, but seriously, you're just being straight up stupid at this point.

Where did I say that? I said they'd now be free to go and do that, because that's going to be a realistic thing they'll resort to now (and you know what, some of them were doing that, just like some of them had a role in the meth issues, and some were probably moonshining too). Ask me how I know this mother fucker. I've lived in areas like that.

It sounds like you feel a need to play moron so you can pretend you give a shit about these people or at least don't want to have to admit how fucking stupid your arguments have been in this thread.

I'm just being honest that their voting is a big reason why they're ending up like this. But nope, Turmp blowing coal smoke up their asses isn't any worse than what Hilary told them was going to inevitably happen and offered a plan for helping them deal with it. Somehow that's just as bad according to you.

Where did I say they could stop that? Oh I didn't? Gee, maybe you could try being honest instead of a dishonest dumbfuck?

You're right, they're hopelessly stupid and will never be able to learn to do anything else. Hey, let me play stupid now. How about we just fucking murder them instead, it'll be mercy killing and be better for them in the end. After all they're otherwise worthless human beings and no way we could possibly help them. At least that sure as shit sounds like what you're saying about them. Personally I wouldn't have given a shit if the $30 billion plan from Hilary was literally just a living fund (that operated like welfare in general, paying their rent and giving them and their families food, paying for education, etc).

How about we train them to cleanup the superfund sites they helped create? This way they get to stay in the same place, and undo the damage that mining did to the area. Hell, they'd likely even be especially good for that since they'd know the area well. But nope, fuck it they couldn't possibly learn to do that. And no reason we should consider cleanup of these places, just leave them to continue to poison the region.

They haven't and they won't as long as people like you keep giving them reasons to go "the Democrats are just as bad if not worse!"

150 or so years ago, another failing industry decimated a city near to where I grew up, New Bedford. That industry was whaling. With the advent of the electric light bulb, the demand for whale oil plummeted. I'm sorry, but the coal industry is in the same boat. It's an industry that's being replaced by another one, renewables. My sympathy for coal workers can only go so far. It sucks but some of them are just going to have to move and set up somewhere else. They and their families may have been miners for generations, but like whaling it sure as hell isn't coming back.

Watched some recent documentary about WV coal miners, why they voted for Trump. They were all complaining that because the mines shut down the town was falling apart, they had no prospects, walmart left, etc etc.. Turns out the mine shut down in 1982! :confounded:

But if they could just defeat the evil Democrats (who haven't run WV in decades? And not held congress in 5+ years?) and elect Trump he would help them any day now!

No, no sympathy. They knew this, they asked for it, they got it. They just couldn't risk that some brown person got help too, they'd rather take Trump's BS
