A-FREAKING-GAIN. And this time, there wasn't even any shittiness leading up to it.

Oh, and again, it was done via email. How god damned non-confrontational can IT management be these days?

*sigh*, I guess it's back to borrowing money from my girlfriend to pay for life.
 
Oh, and the cited reason was "low volume of support tickets from the helpdesk indicates no need for helpdesk positions" - which is total bullshit, because we haven't been able to submit tickets because the damned software is broken and the codemonkeys are scrambling to fix it, all our support calls is taken care of on a VERY full tackboard - which has the problem of being more or less completely off the record.

That, and I'm not in a helpdesk position, my job involves hacking together all the odd little tools and utilities that the IT department needs to function - and answering the phone on the helldesk on weekends while I code/nef.

One of the managers absolutely loved me. I made his life ungodly simple - unfortunately, in doing so, I stepped out of the bounds of my actual supervisor, who never dropepd anything on my plate, nor had anything available to pick up - so it was either nef, or do work for the other guy.
 
Maybe instead of immediately laying the blame on others, do a retrospection on yourself to find what MAY have caused this to happen (because it apparently isnt the first time)...

And I'm probably going to blue collar work for the duration - there's just no security in bottom-rung sub-intern IT.

Other than being the user to report the fact that the damned ticket software was FUBAR (everyone else pretended it worked and never actually tried to submit tickets - I poked and prodded to try to make it work, and then went and complained), not much, unless you consider the fact that my boss was a complete absentee, only assigned projects to his two favorite lackeys, and even when asked, had nothing for me to do - so I went to the guy whose office was next door and asked for stuff to do.

And the first time, the entire department was dropped. This time, it's the entire support division. I doubt my actions had a damn thing to do with either of those.
 
just going to put something out there...I know it may be reaching to far

I wonder if there is a correlation between these layoffs and your attitude...

I see the correlation between neffing and work. Neffing = umemployment. Be smart, use an Ipaq w/Windows Mobile over cell provided internet (GPRS). They wont know a dern thing. :evil:
