Well if she was a member of this board she was probably drunk. 😕

dc

How do you call this an accident? How can someone possibly hit 17 people? 1.. 2.. 3 maybe, but 17? wait, and 5 adults.

HOW do you get a license if you can't even find the God damn brake pedal, Christ.

<< How can someone possibly hit 17 people? 1.. 2.. 3 maybe, but 17? wait, and 5 adults. >>

They were lined up, waiting to be picked up.

<< The driver may have mistakenly stepped on the car's gas pedal instead of the brake, Ruda said. >>

HOW THE HELL CAN YOU MISTAKE SUCH A CRITICAL AND IMPORTANT THING!

idiot

danny~!

well on the news they said she was an elderly lady and was going to pick up her grandaughter. so i doubt she was drunk or anything. its possible she had like a stroke or somehting, that would be sad if she hit her grandaughter

still, that's 22 people.. how long does it take to find the brake pedal? I've honestly mistaken the gas for the brake once, only once, when i first began driving. i moved maybe a 6" to a foot before i found the brake again.

edit; spelling and addition 🙂

its pretty crappy no matter who she hit

sorry, but if she had health problems it's sad that she's driving at all...
and it's sad that she hit anyone to begin with...

You know, this happens more than you think...........My wife and I watched an elderly couple get in a car parked directly in front of an Applebys (sp?) restaraunt a few years ago and the old guy put the car in drive I guess, ran right over the curb and into the restaraunt! Hit a few tables and hurt a few people with cuts and bruises but nothing major............I've noticed things like this in newspapers and on the news too...........🙁 I'm thinking maybe they need a mandatory drivers test after a certain age or something...........

Hope nobody was killed but it sure doesn't sound good.........🙁

I witnessed an elderly driver get the pedals confused one day. He was parked along the curb with other cars in front and behind. I was across the street waiting for a bus and saw him get in his car. He started his car, put the gas down until the engine was whining to the max, then dropped it in reverse, smashing into the car behind (he moved only about 3 feet). He stopped for a second, then put the gas down again and put it in drive, smashing into the car in front this time. He did another attack on the car behind, then turned the car off, got out, and looked at the damage. I don't think he had any idea what had happened - he seemed completely baffled.

Thank god nobody died at least. I read that article and found this quote to be particularly retarded:

<< "This appears to be a horrible accident," [Sgt.] Pasquariello said. >>

Well DUH. Maybe they should promote you to Captain, Sergeant Obvious!

I would have fallen over laughing if I witnessed that.

Unfortunately a mandatory test after a certain age is considered discrimination. What we need, is to retake the driving test ever 7 or so years for EVEYONE. THis avoids the discrimination and gets the sh!tty drivers off the road. 🙂

but if it's a concern for safety for the general public, I think that would overrule the discrimination that would ensue...and seriously can't you take 8 minutes out of your day to pass a driver's test if you're old? You won't miss too much of your job, and it doesn't have any side effects...I don't think that test would be particularly unfair at all.

Blame it on the legal system folks. There's too much emphasis on motives and too little emphasis on acts. Incompetent drivers and elderly drivers get behind the wheel knowing that if they fsck up and kill someone, as long as there's no alcohol in their bloodstream, nothing much will happen to them in the courts. Arguably, you can make the same argument that is made against drunk drivers: that people who know they cannot drive well, should not be getting behind the wheel of a car. I hope they make an example of this lady; perhaps more elderly folks will hear about it and decide to take the bus next time.

<< sorry, but if she had health problems it's sad that she's driving at all... >>

i agree, it sucks any way you look at it

How much do you want bet that she was an elderly driver? We need to get these old fsck's off the damn road!!! It amazes me that Congress will enact stiffer penalties and laws for teenage drivers and yet they do nothing to curb elderly related accidents.

And you know why? The elderly vote and they vote in numbers. So they have a huge influence on Congress!! Teenage drivers don't vote, so they get screwed!!

:|

If I see an elderly driver that is slow as f*ck, I will drive aggressive just so i can scare the hell out of that old f*ck!!!

Your time is over pops, so get the hell off the road and let the new generation through!!!

hahahahahhaahahhahaa

<< Unfortunately a mandatory test after a certain age is considered discrimination. >>

So wouldn't a driving age of 16+ also be considered discrimination by the same token? I don't get it.

I've been in 3 near accidents and one actual accident. And guess who was at fault EVERY SINGLE TIME. Old people who either don't have a grip on their surroundings or who do something foolish. The accident was an old lady who rear-ended me at a traffic light, apologizing with the excuse that she was "distracted by a man's interesting hat". If there isn't a mandatory driving test put in place, there d@mnwell better be something to keep people like this off the road.
