Anyone have good tips for photoshop on making digital pics look their best?

I'm going to stay away from those for awhile. Last time one stayed on my windshield, even while I was on the freeway. After I parked, I picked it up and let it rest on my hand. After a while it decided to crawl over to and bite my wrist, leaving a red mark. Damn lady bugs...
