I know this guy, a friend of mine, always has money, does drugs, has fun, has a nice car (faster than mine), always gets his Nextel plan changed when he feels like it (hopping onto a brand new promotion that only brand new customers are supposed to get), two jobs, he also just got offered another job from a wireless company that he currently visits.

I don?t understand. I have the most farked up luck in the world. I don?t have any money, I have a job that is gonna start paying me $6.00 an hour full time, I?m currently in school but it feels like it?s going by so slow that I?ll never actually obtain a degree. I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, anxiety, have to take anti-depressants, all kinda messed up stuff.

I just don?t understand. Sometimes I just wanna buy a gun and put a bullet through my head. I?ve thought about this like probably every week at least. I?m not saying I?m going to but I said I?ve thought about it many times already.

WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS HAVE BETTER LUCK? I DON?T UNDERSTAND!

He may have it better now, but down the road a few years you will switch positions. He will be so fuct up from the years of drug abuse and he won't have a job or money. Now you, who is in school, will eventually get a good job which suits you and will in the end, be much more successful than your friend ever was.

If you don't like your wage now, why don't you get a new job? What are you going to college for? Maybe try to score an internship which will benefit you with future employment...

it's called random distribution. some poor joe is always going to get the short end of the stick. The good news is it's probably not you. It's exceedingly rare that random distribution will hit the same person again and again with either good or bad "luck".

oh also, all that self help crap is mostly BS. You don't create your own luck, or else if you really just "believed" enough, you could win the lottery every day. nonsense.

It is true the emotion can cloud your judgement and make you pass over good opportunities. However, self help is not the answer. Detachment is. Self help is for people selling amway. Apathy is for people who've gone beyond the crutch.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but that positive thinking stuff really irks me to no end. It's like some sort of capitalistically warped calvinist predestination. See also "Sirens of titan" and "fooled by randomness". Coincidence, prerequisites, and causality are all different things. Think and grow rich my ass.

don't know about that. I mean maybe if it's hardcore drugs, but a lot of stigma has been attatched to soft core shiet like maryjane since the WAR ON DRUGS tm started. Almost all the successfull self employed peeps I know smoke a lot of ganja.
