I'm planning to buy my bride a jewlery box/amoire for a wedding gift. It needs to be a light oak color and stand on the floor. It will be going in a fairly large bedroom if a victorian style house with large oak woodwork.

Here is the best I can come up with. Is that good? Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

As long as it is simple yet elegant, it should be fine:)

The one you linked looks nice:thumbsup:

wife says nice but too plain for "victorian".....needs more details, maybe more intricate carving.

The wood work is actually pretty plain. 8" baseboard with a rounded top. Doors have base blocks with rounded caseing on the sides and a more fancy header (sorry I'm not going to try to describe it...)

I'd go with something bombay or have something custom. Stay away from JCpenney if you can. You get what you pay for.

I have a curio cabinet from JCPenney that I have had for darn near 15 years and not one single issue with it.

just so you know....

i bought her a jewelry box for our first anniversary. we took a trip to northeast asia and she fell in love with a box with lots of mother of pearl inlay all over the box.

cost me an arm and a leg for it even with haggling of price. the most costly is setting precedence that i now have to help her fill it up with jewelry for for occassions and non occassions.

I would go for something of a different color, or different wood. Oak on oak, it will literally blend into the floor. Does it really have to be oak?
I would go for a different wood tone myself. Used it as an accent piece.

I actually have no clue what color it SHOULD be but figured I should try to match the bedroom furniture which is oak colored.

thats gonna be a tough call as it depends on what she likes. I would probably think of using furniture as an accent against the floor, but if she likes matching wood veneers...

Nice pick, I like it. It looks HUGE though. Does she really have that much jewelry? I'd be in heaven if my husband bought me even one piece - he never has (not even engagement/wedding ring), and I wouldn't want to ask him to.

have you ever thought about going to antique stores and looking for something vintage?
I love antiques, and in a victorian house, it would fit perfectly.

Plus, add a piece of jewelry (nothing too pricy) to help start her collection!
