I wonder, how come Apple got like 5 articles, and no hands on or mini review of the Nexus 6 yet? like 12 days passed already, and nothing?

It was announced, not released. You'll see more around or after Halloween. Reviewers are likely under NDA until then.

And considering how many more Android flagships there are than Apple ones, it shouldn't be surprising that Apple had more articles. Android manufacturers collectively release new phones on a much more rapid cadence than Apple, too, so there's usually less pent-up interest for every new model than there is for the iPhone.

I don't get it, NDA lasts till 29?

It doesn't matter how many android phones are out there. The fact is that the NDA is still on and that is enragingly frustrating. It was announced 12 days ago, and pre-orders start in 48 hours or less.

Very poor performance here by Google.

Edit: to correct for inadvertent hyperbole, please scale the rage in this post to the size of a Nexus 6.

Hands on of iPhone 6: 9/9/14
Release date of iPhone 6: 9/19/14
Date of AT review of iPhone 6: 9/30/14

We don't even know when the Nexus 6 is going to be released yet, so we don't know how close to release reviews are going to be. The hands-on of the iPhone was 10 days before its release... and I'd be willing to bet we're still well outside 10 days until the Nexus 6 releases so stop being so freakin impatient.

Easy there, i just wonder, why there is no news about it, in the past there was quick look and similar articles on Anandtech IIRC.

Anyway, anyone know when does the NDA end?

I'm not sure when mediocrity became acceptable when dealing with the pinnacle of mobile technology. I won't apologize for my expectations. I'm not concerned with Apple's release/review schedule because I am not an Apple fan, but if I were, I'd have been just as miffed by that release schedule as I am about Google's.

From Wikipedia:
Nexus 4: unveiled on October 29, 2012, and released on November 13, 2012
Nexus 5: unveiled on 31 October 2013, and released in black and white colors the same day for online purchase on Google Play, in selected countries.

My guess is reviewers either haven't gotten their review units yet or are under NDA until sometime this week. In any case, pre-orders should start by middle of the week and "early November" is when people can start ordering.

Yeah, I am under the impression most reviewers probably haven't gotten it. Seems like the hands on videos I've seen are reviewers that went to Google and played with a display model.

Google seems to be intentionally keeping the hype down. No big announcement, no pre-order date, no launch date.

Looks to me like Google is treating Nexus 6 like another Motorola phone, which is what it is. Nothing special.

What the heck, people are expecting reviews already? I don't expect anything til the general public gets units in their hands. The recent trend with blogs getting phones early and then NDA breaking is more of a recent thing in the past 2 years.

Back in the day, we just waited for reviews.

Problem being, we KNOW nothing, no NDA lift date, no preorder dates for EU, no price for EU, no previews....

How can one preorder on 29, when there are no reviews????

Well, to be fair people didn't just pre-order, they stood in line for an iPhone 6 before anything was known about it too. I don't know why, but they did.

When has anyone ever PRE-ORDERED anything based on a review?

Hands-on, I could see.

And crbunny is sounding about as entitled as one can get. Patience is a virtue, after all. It's not like a preview or hands-on at this point in time makes a whole world of difference.

It sounds like there may be problems with the actual ship date of the device. Some sources seem to think it won't be at carriers until mid December. I was hoping to consider this device, but the release schedule doesn't fit my purchase window.

So sounds like it'll be a traditional Nexus launch.

More articles available now.

But that pre-order sure came and went fast. Sold out already after less than 5 minutes.

Looks like they're still going in & out of stock per XDA. We may not have seen the full launch yet.

It's unlikely that it was the full launch. Canada still doesn't have the Nexus 6 listed on the Play Store, which is really weird. I'm guessing the supply issues run deep.

But yes, more articles! I'm happy about that.

Today is a friendly reminder of how imagined bias in the media is really attributable more to how well companies deliver info and release products.

Apple gets a ton of press because when it's ready to launch, it's usually really ready -- it has tons of things ready to show, the ship date is just 10 days off, and the first reviews show up in about a week. Then there's Google... which announces the Nexus 6 with a blog post, doesn't give hands-on time to most outlets until two weeks later, and is shipping a handful of units about a month after the announcement. It's hard for the media to flood you with coverage when it hardly gets anything to work with!

What bothers me is the lack of Nexus 5 coverage. Where is the 2014 Nexus 5? Or where is the price cut for the 2013 Nexus 5?

Google had not announced a refreshed 2014 nexus 5 or any price cuts to nexus 5. Both are unlikely.

That doesn't explain why they did a hands on of the iPhone 6 before release and not the N6. It wasn't anything special either.
