Labtop busted. screen down

Hi

My freind has a dell series 1100 labtop and he had a mouse left inside the labtop. When he closed the computer he cracked the screen.

Of course the warrenty period had expired or the screen wasn't covered.

anyway can he still use this with anything else. Ie: replacement screens... regular crt monitor? etc......

thanks in advance.

If he mashed the laptop's screen only and the VGA connector is still intact, then yes, you can hook up a CRT to it to try and recover all his important files. Search in the internet for a replacement screen or send it in to a laptop repair place.

Hope that helps a bit! (By the way, it's LAPTOP not labtop)

If you search ebay for Inspiron 1100 LCD then you should be able to find a replacement one for about $200 - $250. They aren't hard to install yourself --- just a few screws, attach the cable and you're good to go.
