Hey fellow Guroo's

THE HISTORY AND USE:
Im a AMD buff since im a cheap ass,but I have decided to buy a labtop/notebook. So I have decided that dell is pretty much my last resort to go with. My biggest need or want was the 128mb video. Im a avid gamer, games like nfsu, madden, fifa, rise of nations. I want a pc that will handle all of these as well as the games to come in the future. but my main use will be the wireless internet use and possibly a few dvd's ect.

THE QUESTION:[b\]
For a gaming/mobile system would the Pentium 4 2.8Ghz or the Pentium M 1.4Ghs be better??

Thanks,
V

If you are going to be traveling everyday, grab the Dell 8600 with a Pentium M and the 128MB 9600 Pro Turbo, the extra battery life afforded to you by the Pentium-M will be appreciated if you are on the road a lot or want something you can possibly game on for 2 or more hours. If you aren't going to be traveling extensively, go with the Dell 9100, it will give you a little better performance since it comes with the Mobility 9700, but the battery life will ultimately suffer because of the biggger power drain of the P4 and the 9700

Abhi-
Weight isnt really a factor.
The Acer Really looks nice but my a bit high priced compared to dell. Wouldn't dell be the better buy anyway? Pent vs. AMD?
My basis is since Pent has a slight edge in performace, so if you compared the two M processors I would feel that the Dell would be a bit better.

-My main use will be in the bed and to be wireless for a little bit but with only internet surfing will the battery only last 2 hours?

-Thanks for your help guys..
Keep the ideas coming....

ThinkPad T41p if you are looking for a 128 meg video card that will roll over the card that Dell installs. It's a Pentium M only Though.

Emachine opteron

If it is going to sit at home, because it is heavy, this would work. A friend has the model below this and it plays UT2003 smooth. Another friend is a linux freak, and he ordered this one so he can load 64 bit linux on it. He also researched who makes it for emachine and found out it is made by a big outfit in Taiwan that makes other companies notebooks.

The Emachine Opteron has a 64meg video. My main worry isnt so much the current games but the games two years down the road. Coughing up 1500 is a lot to me for the notebook to be out of date that quickly. ( my opinion only )

Another factor that I am skeptical on is the new Athlon 64. These are the first generation of the 64bit processors and there's not really any software written for them yet. Im curious how well they will handle longhorn when it comes.... Vs. the 2nd and 3rd generation processors still to come.... Just a thought...

PS: Im very pessimistic.. and cheap as hell.... hehehe..
