Labor day Vacation Ideas near Kentucky

Trying to plan a last minute vacation, leaning towards spending a few days in a cabin within a 3-4 hour drive of Louisville Ky. Something low key, but also have my eye out for any unique events going on.

We've done Gatlinburg a few years ago with the extended family, thinking about heading into Eastern Ky/WV/VA. North is also not a bad option just for some cooler weather.

Ideas anyone?

Thought about it and love the place, just not sure what the availabilty is for a decent/nice cabin to take the wife and baby to. I've slept on the ground every other time I was there, though I suppose there is the state park lodge.

My parents keep trying to take me and the family to this. My mom didnt like it when I told her if I go I'm wearing my darwin shirt.
