Some videocard makers have 3 year limited warranty wich is really one year of warranty, they say that the warranty covers labor and replacement costs, but only in the first year, In year 2 and three they only cover labor costs and that replacement parts will be charged, this IS NOT A 3 YEAR WARRANTY. What if the card is totally damaged and no repair is possible? you have to buy a new one?
If my card is damaged will they repair the card and charge me for the parts replaced? (after the first year of course)
What if it is the GPU that cot damaged?

to answer your original questions labor costs is the cost of the time lost by the people reparing your device. As they are drawing a paycheck from the company in question their cost is added to whatever parts are required to fix your hardware. In year two and three you still get them payed for just not the replacement parts. Depending on the problem the labor can be more than the parts.
