LA is on freaking fire

Stay safe Angelinos.

I don't see anything from SD. But it's hot and I know it's not pleasant in LA right now. Good Luck

Why don't they just bring every firefighting helicopter in the country in? 😕

scary looking fire

I've had two experiences with wildfires. first was probably a few miles away and I could see it burning in the distance. I didn't consider my area to be in much danger though since it needed to cross a highway and a lot of developed area to reach where I lived.

the second was maybe a mile off and occurred last year while the wildfires were razing the San Diego county area. some car starts honking the horn in the middle of the night while everyone is sleeping and a guy eventually gets out of the car yelling "Wake up! There's a fucking fire!" and starts going door to door getting people to wake up. the fire is a surprise since although there were reports of neighboring regions facing possible wildfires (Carlsbad & Escondido), the area I lived in (San Marcos) didn't seem to be in any immediate danger. anyways, I'm watching the fire with the family and it's a pretty windy night with 20 to 30 mph gusts, and I can make out the top of the flames. the fire eventually burns itself out luckily and didn't do any property damage, although I suspect arson. about an hour or two later, we get the automated message to evacuate after the fire already died down lol

Wah.

We had about 75 fires burning in our county last year and visibility was 2/10 of a mile for about a month. Air quality was so bad it registered off air quality meters..

That is a hell of a fire though..

I think God is trying to burn down LA this year ...

You guys gotta get your act together ... it's those damn hookerz I knew it!!

The hookers are the only thing holding this place together. We need more hookers. Hooker firefighters! The female kind...um yeah!

lol probably

But in all seriousness we are in such a big drought here in LA. We haven't had rain in a while. Here's to hoping we have a very moist El Nino this winter.

In all seriousness though, I work out at one of my families pharmacies out in the high desert about 45 miles NE of LA(victorville/hesperia) when I'm not home in the OC. People who drive through to Vegas know the hellhole this place is. It's normally 100+ degrees during the s ummer. Couple that with a blanket of smoke coming from the Yucaipa fire going on right now and it literally feels like I would imagine a Martian afternoon would be. Obscenely hot, nothing but dirt and tumbleweeds, the smell of burning timber, a thick ashy sky and a trickle of ash down from above. Disgusting. Shoot. Me. Now.

Looked pretty cool but I didn't realize how many do that until I saw the side bar with all the other ones.

I remember the fires two years ago in SD and LA. Every government institution in the area closed down for the week. (I got paid vacation).

Southern California fires really do suck.

Meh, probably karma for all the assholes who water their stupid grass everyday when the department of water have bulletins out telling people to conserve water and do it in the evening/night if they must. The thing is most people don't give a fuck, they just have their timer set and forget about it.

Just wanted to add that Mars is actually colder than earth because it is farther away from the sun.

I thought it was because the Martians freeze gun backfired and ended up saving humanity.
