LA has 1.8 cars per person

There's no way that's true. I wouldn't even believe a quote of 1.8 cars per people over 18.

Agreed. I live in LA and the overwhelming majority of people I know have 1 car.

Disagreed. Like I said I have two. My best friend has two, another friend has two. My dad has 4.

Obviously a small sample size but, it's not too far fetched.

Consider the dealerships of unsold cars, taxis, delivery trucks, etc..

Exactly. Tons of cars owned by businesses.

So fucking what if they do, whats the big deal if they do or dont, its their life, and right to have what ever they want if they can afford to do so. Why should anyone care what someone else has or dont and just worry about themself instead.

Whoa, calm down. Nobody's complaining, it's just an observation. Breathe...

😕

does this count all the rich celebs with huge car collections?

I mean, if you take the outliers into account, I bet the number is far more reasonable...

I have 5 cars in my name. Not all of them run but I guess I factor into that 1.8

Many people don't know how spread out the Greater Los Angeles Area is. It's not condensed like many large cities which makes it more difficult for public transportation which is why the need for freeways which means more cars.

I also believe this is probably counting total population, and total vehicles owned.

Not everyone has a car I imagine, and some people have more than one to their name.
Thus, averages of that type get bumped up.

Like the statistic for average number of kids in a family. It's some strange decimal, like 2.x, or 1.x, but that includes families that don't have any kids, and families that have a whole herd of kids.

Too many rich people with garages full of Ferraris and Porsches will skew the average.

That makes no sense at all. Is there somewhere that you cannot go if you only have 1 car instead of 5?

ya... cuz we all know LA is full of documented citizenry

If they counted the undocumented citizens, which I'm going to assume you mean Illegals from Mexico. That 1.8 number would drop drastically. 1.8 even without the undocumented people is high, I know 2 people with 2 cars. The rest either have 1, or take the bus/metro trains.
