The LA Times Wednesday Fry's ad has a Western Digital 180GB Ultra DMA/100 Hard Drive for $219.99 - $120 MIR = $99.99.

Hot?

I would be on this but I can not justify letting them hold onto $120 for 3 months

Well, my dad's picking one up for me today (at college w/ no car). Gonna be at 500 GB with that. As for "three months" I've had good luck w/ WD Rebates and usually get them back in a month or two at most.

I got the last one in San Diego.

It is 2 separate rebates ($100 + $20), and the retail package includes an ATA 133 controller.

Total cost was $219 + tax - $120 = $116 = 0.644/gig

Fry's is crappy about their rebates. I would imagine that the $100 is from WD and $20 from them. You will never get the $20 without a good fight. I have never lost a rebate but I did lost two at Fry's.

I think that this is the same "175gb" drive that compusa has on sale. They use the same rebate form for $100, but only include a 30 instant rebate if bought on their web site.

San Jose store is all gone when I got there around 4pm.

checked their inventory at other locations in the area, but no stores have more than 10-15 as of closing last night. Doubt there will be any left now in the bay area.

too bad.. but I saved $220 this month=)

Me too! The crazy thing is is that Outpost is based here in Ohio :(

Fry's is a good hour from my house, so anything i save in rebates and deals is eaten up by gas costs. :(

definitely a good price for a 8MB cache. i recently bought a WD 180GB 2MB for $200 - $100 MIR. sigh... should've waited for this 8mb one.

btw, is this a WD MIR, or it's a Fry's MIR? WD MIR are respectable, but Fry's MIR are usually sketchy.

My friend and I went to the Sacramento store last night. They had some in stock but wouldn't sell them because the stock number in the sale is different than what the drive has. Also the sale stocking number wouldn't come up in their computer :(
150 mile road trip. Luckily we were able to buy the p4 mobo combos.
I'm gonna call corporate and raise hell over it tomorrow.

buickbeast it may be the same rebate form but it isn't the same drive.
