La Croix = the patch for soda addicts

I take Pepsi true (35% of sugar replaced with stevia), or smaller soda cans (one 8oz can per day)
Other alternative is zevia (that taste will surely help you quit ).

I've never found a flavored water that I liked. They all taste nasty to me, like when you drink plain water after eating Skittles.

I drink Bai soda once in a while, but overall my soda consumption is only 2-3 cans per week of either Bai or Coke Zero.

I like the Minute Maid light lemonade. Its strong enough lemonade flavor but only 5 calories (and its not chock full of non-sugar sweetener either, as its 96% water, with 3% juice and less than 1% other ingredients). Probably could make your own equivalent for a lot cheaper though. Its not carbonated, but there's off brands of light sparkling lemonade (and cherry limeade) that are ok. I prefer fruit flavored drinks uncarbonated myself though.

hence why it is considered "the patch". nothing will ever be as good as full calorie soda, but I can't be blowing 900+ calories a day on fucking soda.

"the patch" is diet soda

This la crotch stuff just doesn't come close to hitting the flavor profile that soda does for me. Maybe people are after something different, I get it, but it doesn't do anything for me that soda does.

I ween you mean "wean."

I never understood how you could develop an addiction to soft drinks, but then I tried the "Real Sugar" versions and I can see it now.

Just go cold turkey. Don't buy any and have it around the house. And when you go out to eat, always ask for water. That's what I did. I still drink soda occassionally but I don't drink 2-3 cans a day like I did before.

And I don't care for sparkling water. As long as I have my 2 cups of coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day, I'm good.

Yes. Don't keep a supply on hand. That's the least(most?) you can do.
Also remind yourself those 20oz bottles near the registers aren't worth NEAR what they ask. Maybe .80 tops.
Also remind yourself that fountain drinks at a restaurant are poorly mixed and not worth buying.
Think of soft drinks as dessert.

Considering you could go to a budget food store and get a 2L bottle for $.80, why would you buy a 20oz one for $.80?

Hell yes. We've been drinking La Croix for the last 5 or so years. God's gift to earth, Costco, carries pallets of it on the regular. You simply cannot find a comparable unsweetened, flavored, carbonated beverage.

Everything else posted in this thread has artificial sweeteners -- I'd rather drink a ton of sugar than that crap.

I think it's all about not overdoing it. For a while I was drinking like 5+ Pepsis in a day. I decided I should probably consider reducing. Now I drink maybe 1 per day with some days I drink none. I also drink club soda which is basically carbonated water so it kinda quenches that thirst for a pop. It's not the same, but when I want to sit down with a drink other than water, it still kind of satisfies that.

The biggest issue with pop alternatives though is that they are not as available and tend to be way more expensive. You need to go to a very specific store for them, while Pepsi, Coke and other popular ones will be available pretty much anywhere you go.

Good point. Did not know that. I can get 2L (or 1L) for $1 here. Oh, maybe you mean generic brand stuff.
Anyway ...
1) Because it's cold
2) Easier to drink the whole container before it goes flat.

I personally stopped buying 20oz bottles around the time they hit $1.20. Though I do make exceptions now and then.

I go to Ruler Foods and get 2L bottles of generic Diet Mountain Dew. Much cheaper then going to the 7-11 across the street from me.
