LA and NYC News Channels on waiver

They said up to 45 days for your waiver to be processed(local stations have to agree). Has anyone else done this? How long did it take?

EDIT>> I think local channels were simply included if you paid an additional $5/mo. I don't know what this waiver is about. Never heard of it when I was looking into DTV.

Does petitioning them to waive rights allow you to get service for free or is this just another step before you get them ?

Took about 30 days for me (no locals in the Binghamton, NY area). Freakin' CBS and FOX both DENIED me!!!! ABC and NBC stations OKed, so I get ABC and NBC east coast and west coast feeds.

can I do this if I get locals here in Rochester? I miss the east coast west coast feeds I got from those "old" cards

I have local channels. However, I want to have the NYC and LA channels as well. I"m not sure if it is extra or not, but it isn't going to be THAT much more if it is. The waiver is your local stations waiving their right to you in their DMA.

Yes. I get locals too, but you can apply to get the other channels. Be forewarned that they(your locla stations) can turn you down...

Oh. DirecTV has always had my locals since I've subscribed to them (was using a active cable feed for locals for many years prior).

I have direcTV.. I pay $5.00 a month to watch local channels.

I have DirecTV and get all my local channels in High Definition... for free!

The wonderful thing about OTA digital broadcasting is that even a weak OTA signal looks great! Digital is on, or off. There is no static, ghosting, or any crap like that.
