L2 Cache

How important is L2 cache to seti? I recently got a celeron 300 with no L2... is it worth buying a motherboard for? (it seems to run perfect at 450)

The celerons with no L2 will be good for things like RC5 and OGR, but pretty slow compared to a normal one with projects like SETI.

I think it will go kinda like this:
Good:
RC5
OGR
ECCp

Bad:
UD Cancer research
SETI@home

Yep, SETI likes L2 cache. 🙂

Xeon server 700mhz 2mb L2 cache does WUs in 5hr19min average. 🙂

The non-cache Cely would be better suited to RC5 or another distributed project. It will be quite slow in SETI. 🙂

I wouldn't even consider running SETI on that processor. 🙂 Though it would be interesting to see just how slow the WUs would be. I'd bet almost P166 type speeds.
