Have a strange problem with upgrade. I tried this on 2 different computers one was succesful SY-6BA+IV, one seems not ACER V-66ma. It seems my Pent3 FCPGA 1.1ghz 100 FSB on a MSI ver2.3 slocket boots up windows 98SE fine, but I get bios error on ACER MB(I was told this is no big deal, as long as I get voltage correct 1.75)But it seems I have no L2 Cache when run on ACER MB? Is this possible that since the bios does not reconize this chip that some how it cant utilize L2 Cache(this is a Slot 1 MB), so my CPU seems to runs without L2 Cache, and performance seems to be poor. I would think if you can get the CPU to boot up in windows with correct voltage everything is fine and the L2 Cache would have to be working too. So is it true that the CPU will work without its cache or is this a illusion? Somebody with expertis please reply, I am stumped. So it would be safe to say that if bios gives in error on boot, then your CPU will not work correctly, Damn I thought this was not the case?
