L1 cache went bad on my p4

It was a 1.6a @ 2.56 ghz.. I had voltage set to 1.625 so on this asus board it was actually @ 1.68 volts. I used a stock cooler for part of its life and a AVC Sunflower heatsink for the last month or so.

Sad to see this processor go.. It still works fine, but you have to set it to no L1 cache in the bios or it will spontaneously reboot. With no cache, its slower than a celeron 300a.

was it an intel or sis chipset???

how long did it last??? I have had my 1.6@2.74 and 1.71v since mid June of 2002....

Intel chipset, p4b533-e motherboard

I had it for about 4 months, dont think it was overclocked higher than 2.1 ghz prior to my purchasing it. On the one hand I want to RMA it, but on the other hand, it was overclocked and its not the right thing to do.

any other part and it might not work at all....
cache is like 50% of the chip :)
