I know that for overclocking the socket A's you need to connect the L1 bridges but I heard just recently for voltage you need to connect the L7. Is this true?? I've never o/c'd but am thinking about it and just want to know ahead of time. This L7 thing is news to me. It seems that most people in this forum don't mention it yet still can adjust voltage settings. Please shed some light.

Closing the L1 bridges allows for adjustment of the multiplier. The L7 bridges are used to determine default voltage. If your board is having issues setting voltage, you can connect them all to get 1.85v.

So I guess it's not imperative to close L7 for o/cing unless you run into the voltage issue that you just mentioned. Thanks for the help paulip88!

Taplight,
Forgot to mention, but made clear at the site...you have to close ONLY the L1 bridges IF your mobo has a full set of oc'g hardware or bios settings. Use the mobo/bios settings to oc FSB Multiplier. Multiplier ID, and change Vcore IF available.

But on the other hand, IF your mobo does NOT have oc'g hardware etc, THEN you may have to manipulate the other bridges...like the L7 to increase Vcore for example.

Thanks JC. As a newbie to this forum I am glad to see we have a very informed group of minds. I am currently researching to get my personal dream machine together so you can expect more posts from me. Looking foward to hearing from both you and paulip in the future. Thanks again guys.
