L&C 400W 8-Connector AMD/P4 Power Supply is $29 shipped

Conundrum

Senior member
The other PSU listed right now is going for $20+$9.99 shipping. I just bought this one myself... and the shipping was $8.95 for me. Flat cost was $20. So I paid exactly $28.95 for it.

Looks like a damn good deal... and it's a combined 210. Not too shabby... I'll post here once I get mine and let you know how it's working.

No problem..

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. I've never owned a PSU greater than 300W. Although in the process of being a part of the Anandtech Community I've learned that there's a lot more to a PSU than just the wattage. How much you get through the rails combined is very important. The PSU I had before only had 160!!! That was horrible... and the one I'm using now has 180 and it seems to be working all right. This one has 210.. and in a previous long and involved post I happened to save because the information was so valuable IMHO... it was stated that the best PSUs have a 220 rating.

If this was a Sparkle.. that would make this deal SUPER HOT. I think it's hot just the way it is though.. which is why I decided to share it. Glad I could be of help. I've certainly gotten more than my fair share of hot deals from here. It's time I gave back.

I've got another PSU that's having intermittent problems in one of my other machines. So I'm just going to take this one and put it in my main rig... using the one that's in it now to power the one that sometimes decides not to power up. 😉

This is an OEM deer: Link

These have a very bad rep for poor performance and short lives.

True enough, PSU's are a knomdrone <sp> - sometimes not even the +3 and +5 wattage telle an adequate story.

My intent is not to thread crap, but to advise on what I've found about this PSU, before some makes a mistake (IMO) and make a purchase which may very well be money thrown away.

uh... audscott, that review you posted was pretty favorable. this looks like it might just do the job for me. thanks for the post (both of you!)

My Deer 250w has only 130W combined hehehe

still works great 🙂

I was told by a case vendor that these are from the same plant as deer PS's. I have one of these(L&C) power PSU's. It has been ok, but its only been up a month.

Thanks for the link Sesopedalian. Now if they would just hang one of those fruit and vegetable scales near the power supplies, we could make intelligent buying decisions! 🙂

I bought a new 425 watt LC power supply off ebay. I took it out of the box looked at it and put it back in the box and sit it in the corner-Its low end deer-pos. Deer does make some nice higher end ps but we never get to see those power supplies. Its a $20 power supply like the add says. Also where they say its been running non stop for 10 days or so-----Cycle it on and off for a while and lets see what it does-My 300 watt deer blew up when I was turning on the machine after it was about 6 months old-It blew a capaciator in it-scared the #$@! out of me.

It would be fine for use in a full tower as a second ps to run fan-lights-etc.

Just like audscott My intent is not to thread crap-just tell you my experience with deer ps.

If you have the March 2002 MaximumPC magazine, on pg. 41, they give 10 tips on buying a power supply.

Buy from a reputable name-brand like Antech, Enermax and PC Power and Cooling.

Why not just use your old AT PS for that? There got to be a ton of them that you can get for free.
