Kyro2

I have contemplated purchasing a KyroII as an upgrade from my existing geforce2 MX.

However I have been told that the geforce2 would suit me better because of my slower processor. I have a velleron2 running at 850 mhz, and I hear that the kyro is very CPU intensive?

What do you think fellas should I go for the Kiro2 or stick with the MX and upgrade my CPU instead??

i think that the problem with kyro II's running well with slower CPU's has been alleviated somewhat by new drivers. i know of people getting decent kyro II performance on 750 mHz athlons. having said that, a lot of upcoming games are going to have a lot of T&L features that a kyro II will require the cpu to do. with these games, you are better off having a T&L equiped vid card, as the CPU is going to be busy doing things like advanced AI, etc, and there aren't going to be any free clock cycles for emulating T&L operations. my suggestion is to upgrade to a nice PIII now, and then look into a new vid card in 6 or 8 monthes, if you have the cash for it then. the radeon II, geforce III ultra (or whatever they will call the refresh product) and kyro III will probably have been on the market for a while, and regular geforce III prices will have come down quite a bit. THEN is the time to get a fast card.
