I got my hands on a 64 megger and it rules (I upgraded from a fury pro vivo)
image quality is very nice
silky smooth on UT (D3D) 1024x768x32 details maxed (win98)
about 60 FPS on Q3A v1.17 demo001.dm3 HQ setting textures/details all @ max 1024x768 bilinear (win2k)
It runs fast on win98 but it "stutters" in Q3A<--- solution?
3600 3dmarks (default) EBBM looks sweet FSAA looks good

my system:

If Kyro came out a few months ago (as hoped) I think more people would have them over the GF2 MX. I myself am waiting for the follow up due in a few more months that has a higher fill-rate and clock speed and a rumoured 4 pixels/clock and has T&L support.

Personally I'm hoping that ATi and PowerVR keep going with the tile-based rendering and shut out NVIDIA. Don't get me wrong, I like NVIDIA and they have good schtuff, but we need some serious competition here. We also need new technologies and less of "we'll shrink the core, clock it up, and call it a new product".

Radeon has Hyper Z, which is their method of HSR. Saves bandwidth by not rendering pixels that may be hidden. Complex scenes with lots of overdraw are suppose to benefit from it

Hey Shawn - glad to hear the KYRO is working out. As far as the stuttering goes, you might try the following:

1. Make sure the DMA option is enabled for all your drives
2. Make sure the card is not sharing any IRQ's with another device
3. Make sure that Video BIOS shadowing is DISABLED in BIOS
4. Try diabling auto-mipmapping in the display drivers.

Let me know if any of that works.

Shut nVidia out? You must be joking. For one thing ATi are NOT using a tile based rendering system. Secondly the Kyro's mediocre fillrate means it's hopelessly outclassed by the competition when its trickery fails (ie large open spaces with little/no overdraw). Not to mention the numerous artifacts and image quality problems that have been reported with its drivers.

The GeForce 3 will have HSR and a massive fillrate/fast memory it back it up. The Kyro is already outclassed now and it will only fall behind even further.

The GF2 MX gets 55 fps, the GF2 gets 95 fps and the GF2 Ultra get 125 fps with those settings. Tile based rendering is nice but it needs raw fillrate to back it up. So you'll excuse me if I won't be too impressed by the Kyro.

wait until a overclocking program comes out for the kyro! 🙂
What image quality and artifact problems? I see none
The image quality is better than my ati rage fury pro's
I hope a ddr version w/higher core clock speed comes out, too
